I just picked up a poor condition old original Chexx that needs some serious attention. The players were badly painted by one of the previous owners. Is there something I can soak them in to remove the paint without damaging the players? I think it's acrylic paint, but I'm not sure. Also, anyone know the cheapest place to get a new dome? Thanks.

You might try oven cleaner. I tried this with a model car I wanted to repaint. It removes the paint without affecting the integrity of the plastic. Just be careful not to get any on bare hands as it is a strong basic solution and will eat away at exposed skin, so use a pair of rubber gloves. Don't soak, just use the oven cleaner and rinse off with water. Repeat until all paint is removed.

I used a sand blaster that was used a gun shop to recondition metal. It had very small particle sand. Took about 2 minutes per player. You might look around at some auto mechanic shops and see if someone would do it for you for cheap. I also tried sanding one guy. One guy. Took fricken forever!

I just purchased a new set of players from Super Chexx. Does anyone have any tips on the best product to remove the protective coating they spray on the players?

Sand blast the figures. That is the only way I know. Also provides a good base for future paint.

wrt to Domes. If you are in NY or MI, you are in luck. Go to ice game or game room guys. if not, you have to ship it and it can be 200 to 900 to ship it. redonkulous. i agree. game room guys will get it drop shipped from ICEGAME for about 130.

rub those players down with white scott brits with some pain thinner or mineral spirits on the pad. That will take off the clear. then wash them and paint them. worked for me two weeks ago.
