Here is the rules as posted to the AHL website. It includes teams/locations participating in this years event. I have heard but not seen anything official, any previously qualified player from each team past tournaments will not be eligible for this years event. That would mean some of the top players won't be there this year. Within this official rules link I found the following:
"6) Tournament Finals. a) Each winner of a Team Finals (“Team Winner”) will advance to compete in the Tournament Finals at a location and date to be determined.. Note that team winners from the 2014 event will not be able to participate during the 2015 Labatt Blue AHL Bubble Hockey Tournament of Champions. Those individuals may compete at the Qualifying Round level and team finals but should they win a team final the runner up will advance to the 2015 Tournament of Champions. "

With a brand new fresh field this year, it sure looked intense, with some crazy upsets. There were 8 players representing their AHL teams which met in Utica, NY. Everyone played each other in round robin, with the results as follows:
1.Jason 7-0
2.Matt Canning 5-2
3.Kevin O'Mally Sr. 5-2
4.Gene Vergules 4-3
5.Frank Steciuk 4-3
6.Brian Connor 2-5Justin Lachance 1-6
8.Slapper 0-7
A few notable games: Jason 4-2 over Matt, Matt 4-3 over Kevin, Frank 4-2 over Matt, Jason 3-1 over Kevin.
This all set up first round match ups with:
Jason Truskoski over Slapper.
Frank Steciuk over Gene Vergules.
Kevin O'Mally Sr. over Brian Connor.
Matt Canning over Justin Lachance.
Jason and Matt both advanced to the finals on the ice. After playing a full game and some OT, they were pulled off the ice tied 2-2, finishing the game (next goal wins) on the concourse. Matt added the game winner, and was crowned the champion. He took home a Calder Cup trophy, along with his own brand new Super Chexx table!
