yea, I tried to catchup with this guy several times when I was visiting my old stomping grounds in South Jersey. In fact I tried in 2003 & 2004. I once spoke with him on the phone, and he said he would play me. I informed him I was going to be in town several weeks ahead and he said he'd take me on. When I got out there he wouldn't return my calls. Now if you guys know me, I generally get what I want and I don't take no for an answer, so since he wouldn't call me back (& I knew he was home). So being the agresive person I can be from time to time, I went to his house (what a nut huh, but I don't like being stood up), I caught him at his front door and he gave me about 5 excuses why he couldn't play me. I told him I was willing to go to his basement right then and play a quick best of 3, but he said he had to run out and do groceries or something. I then informed him that Bill Brooks, Scott Storck and a couple of others would be playing later that night (about 5 minutes from his house). He said he would be there but never showed up. So, my feeling is this guy is a self made myth. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but he has had several chances and avoided all of them. So if anyone can put these doubts in front of his face, I think it would be great. If he has any testosterone, he should be willing to defend his honor. but I suspect he won't.

From all indications including some similar stories I have heard this guy is exactly what you said Tony...A self made myth... I personally think he is a TOTAL FRAUD ! If this type of talk does not drag him out from the myth he is apparently hiding behind then I suppose all of these comments about him are true... Just the fact that he ducked Tony, Bill and Scott after he received a direct invitation to play should tell you something. BTW, did you know that I have a 4423-2 record in Lawn Darts ? Now Tardy lawn darts are called Jarts. They have long since been non PC due to many serious injuries and death. You don't still play do you? ;D

JG I was there all five years and i do not rember mr young, but i think(i can't rember) that is spoke to him on the phone and he said he was at one of the events. I really don't rember a great philly team till brooks and stork were there, but i think the 1 st year team(one of the guy played with a cast on his leg) was also a pretty good team. I am makeing arangements to make your event next month, I hope all the trash talkers are doing the same. hope to see you at Del Val 2 al

JG & Al
I think I told some of you but I got Bob Young's phone number from Tony (Utah) a couple of years ago when he was in town (NJ). I called him up and said Tony, Scott Storck, and myself are playing in the area and invited him to come. He claimed that he played me and Scott to Tony and he said "I've beaten then before". I must add I've never played him. Well he said he was going to come and then when I he didn't show up I called him and he made some excuse. We live in the same town and I would love to play someone good but I guess some people are all talk!

Tony,
If your are ever in the area again anytime soon, you will have to let me know. I finally got a bh table about 6 months ago. Have a Stiga table too. I am not that good at it but getting better. Hope your tourney in Utah goes well!

WOW!! I'm flattered. Didn't know how serious you guys took this game. First of all, the "I Beat Pete" segment was for fun. The record that I stated on the piece was just a made up number for effect. That's all guys, nothing more, nothing less. Yes, I did win the Philly Regionals @ Dave and Busters in 2001 and went to the meadowlands for the BL finals and got knocked out in the quarter-finals by team Florida. I used to play a lot in the late 90's and early 2000's and probably have run across a lot of you guys in local and regional BL events. I've probably had a few beers with some of you guys too. When I play doubles, my partner only plays the goalie position. Does this ring a bell with some of you. I was also DQ'd by BL in 2000 for taking 2 teams with 2 different partners into the Final 4 which was played at the Wachovia Ctr.. Remember?
I haven't made excuses why I couldn't play, I am very busy in my personal life and Bubble Hcokey is just not a priority in my life right now. I truly wish I had the time to play in a league/tournaments, it sounds like a blast with a great bunch of guys. I will hopefully be able to join the Fall league if I can work it out with my schedule. Running a business, working FT and raising 3 kids does'nt leave me a whole lot of time for myself. E-mail me @ Sportspa@excite.com with any info on upcoming tourneys and I'll see if I can make it. Bill has certainly been a gentleman with his invitations to play. Hopefully I'll see all you guys soon!!

Welcome aboard Bob, we appreciate your honesty on the 5000 -5 record/myth. Glad to see you willing to step out and play with some of the other top players out there in Jersey. Honestly, no one really cared about the claim of 5000-5, it was more the evasive way you appeared to side step challenges and invitations. I'm the guy from Utah and I would have been totally fine with winning, losing or whatever if we played, i just wanted you to come forward with the truth and either smack me or take your lose from me. For me, I'm a pretty good bubble hockey player and I have always been eager to play anyone, even when I haven't practiced and knew my skill and timing was far below what it would have been if I prepared. To me it's more about playing, learning and improving and so to me your apparent unavailability just annoyed me. But all that aside, I'm glad to see you willing to get out there and be the best, or just be another good player. Either way it's fine with the bubble hockey players. So, welcome back to the table, I hope to have the opportunity to play you some day. Chow Tony
