"Hey Airjerd: I sent you the info you need to login in to Chexxfan and make changes. So go ahead and do your thing."
I know that I have asked to have this done (and I believe JG has as well) and have attempted to do it myself but I think the only one who can do it is Andy. If they are removed they should be archived so that the posts will come up if someone was to search for information.

As I said, I think Andy may be the only one that can do it.
As for all of the other talk/suggestions. I say keep it coming. And just an FYI to everyone who is constantly asking each other "Where are you from?" If everyone would take the time to fill out the member profile you will see that there is a section to enter your location. If you fill this out your location will appear below your screen name everytime you post and then everyone will know where you are located and not have to ask anymore...Just a thought.

Great stuff, guys! I definitely wanted to see if there was any interest to spark out there, and there is some. But still, only a few people have responded so far - we need more! The more ideas the merrier! My thoughts were just opening suggestions to get the ball rolling - truth be told, I don't even agree with all of them, but I thought some things needed saying or at least some debate. Now some particular thoughts from me:
To MattArch: I had no idea that was you, tricky bastard! Look at you checking out chexxfan.com. I see you remember that 10-3 beat down you gave me (though my recollection is a bit hazy...). And my referencing "tanking" games was not an insult - quite the contrary. That was a $$$ event, and the smart move was to go for the best odds at winning some $$$, which was to get into "B" flight. Good idea, in fact, considering the talent level there (Jeremy, his bro, me, etc). However, bad job on the execution - you got bounced early in the "B" flight! Cheers FooCare - looking forward to the next microbrew growler at my place! Though no Triumph for you!!
To Tardy and Airjerd: Couldn't agree more about making it easier to locate players. If folks aren't going to fill out their bios all the way, maybe the site could come with a place for guys to post where they are from, and maybe more importantly, where they are willing to travel to to play some bubble. Might help more guys meet more like-minded players for some bubblin'...
To AL/Sully/Andy: I concur about cleaning up the board - you see a lot of the same questions over the months/years. It would be nice to have an archive by topic. Also, there is no info for "Leagues." Right now the only somewhat logical place to post league info is in the "Tournaments" link, but I think it gets lost there. I have more people ask about my league from the old IBHF site and playbubblehockey that from here, probably because they can't find it. I have my own website, so I don't need the extra publicity (though I would use it), but other leagues might have no where else to turn. Just a thought.
To Al: The "thingytails" was this site's censoring of "c*cktails," my reference to your remark about "maybe if I had less beers I could stop the right d-man shot" better. I changed my post so "thingytails" won't show up. Incidentally, if you straight type "p*ssy pass" you get "girlthingypass." Bizarre. And the reference to my having beers was a cheap-shot, plain and simple, whatever you intended or explained away however you want. No biggie. You and disagree on a lot of how bubble hockey should be played - to each is own. Neither of us are 100% right or 100% wrong. However, I have to concur with Sungod661 - if you don't change anything, then be content with the way things are now - no national tournaments, no local tournaments, no KONE, no one playing anyone, anywhere. Is that what YOU want? That's what you have now - I'm only trying to see if there is any life out there for something a bit bigger...
To Sungod661: You hit it right on the head! What is missing is FUN! Very few people care about rankings or tournaments or this and that - most people just want to play, me included! If it isn't fun, why bother?!? And I'm all for any event you can run. Jimmy and I and maybe a guy or 2 from my league would travel to Canada, provided you could swing a weekend event with some notice. I'd love it! Your spirit in this captures I think what most want out of all this - a place to share ideas, get info, build friendships, and play some bubble. That is getting lost here. Well said! Cheers!

I like the idea of having one event a year and think it would be best, if possible,if we can have it at different locations but I know that can be tough. Also I think that having local leagues is also a great idea. Sungod, if you have an event in Canada I would be interested. I will pick one event to go to in the spring whether that would be Boston or Canada. If there is a way to bring back that excitement we had a few years ago, I am all for it. One event a year would be just enough to keep the spark going. I think the thread idea for different states is a good one. I prefer double eliminations at tournaments because it allows for more games. I am always interested in meeting new people and sharing the passion for the game. I was interested in going to St. Louis this year but it looks as thought it is NOT going to happen. As for the threads in different states, I also think that could work. How about having votes on ideas of where/when to hold annual tournaments and structure of tourneys (single or double elim). ? I agree with the fact that we don't need to worry so much about rankings. Let's just let the results speak for themselves and have fun with it.
Well just my thoughts. I hope the league night a JG's is a good one. I will miss due to my work schedule.

Bambro, I agree with the 1 superbowl event per year that we all make every effort to attend. I know I will personally commit to trying to do that with a 90% assuredity (of course leaving some wiggle room for work requirements etc.) providing that these events are set in stone (don't want to waste money on non-refundable plane tickets) and a predetermined date of at least 6 months in advance.(we could even have a tentative schedule of probable locations for the next 2,3,4 years etc. We could learn alot from the table hockey guys) I also agree with the concept of moving the event around the country as well. I have 4 games myself and would be willing to be a host location out here in SLC Utah in possibly 2009. I could also work to combine resources with the Colorado guys for the ability to double the available tables. As for the comment about people who could act as a resource on various things, ie. game function knowledge(technical), tournament tips, etc. I would like to suggest that when we put up new threads, that we allow for threads to be set up where people knowledgeable about certain things could be on a resource list and would be available to respond to questions from newer individuals who may put in posts for questions. And then lastly, I do think rankings are important, but not now! we need to get back to the roots of fun etc. and then have events. A buzz around the country about who certain regions consider the best players, and then verbally challenging others, is a good thing for the game. However, I vote based on performance at this/these major tournaments people would be ranked by their peers. It could be totally subjective, fun and open for argument. Anymore technical then that is just a waste of our time. Time better spent in promoting and building a larger bubblehockey community in North america. Anyway, just some thoughts from Utah. Tony

I don't know. It seems someone tries to do this every year, with little success. I will do my part here in the Midwest to keep things going. The league I had over the summer was a dud. We had no more than four players and one night it was just myself that showed. That was the end it that for me. I know of a few people who have expressed interest in playing again and maybe after the new year, I will go for it again.

Hello Sungod: If you do an event in Montreal we would have a great showing from the Boston area. We used to make the trip for Bruins Habs games for years(when the B's were worth watching) . Would your event be in the city? How many tables could you set up? I would make every effort to make the trip as would Al . If you set the date early that would help. I am sure we can get 6 -12 players from here to go up. Also the Euber bros. and some other good Vermont players should be on board. I also agree with you that the game should be about the game and having fun, the stats are not that important to me. We will be glad to help you any way we can.

Remember- Goggle and Youtube are our friends. Google your area with term Bubble hockey tournament- sometimes you get lucky and hear about stuff happening in you area. When I google Buffalo- Chexxfan is 3rd on the list. How do we get it to be first? I have found a few things going on that I wouldn't ever heard of had it not been for the web. Vitamin water bubble, New era bubble, etc.
Tony has done a great job on Yout tube with his videos. Anyone else have a bubble video they would like to share? I will try to get some together that I have. We need to direct people watching those videos to Chexxfan. This could get new players.

Sorry its been awhile since I posted on here. Life has been very hectic at the Rufa house lately. Anyway, I am glad to see the chatter about getting some enthusiasm pumped back into bubble hockey. The best thoughts seemed to have come from sungod661 (George) about getting back to the basics of playing for fun and to meet other people with the same passion for the sport. An event in Montreal in early 2008 certainly seems like it would be a great way to get folks re-engaged in the sport. It is a new location and a very obvious hotbed for the sport. Once a date is set, we should all try hard to not only support George in setting up the event, but also attending. Please keep us posted. My e-mail address is now milehigh_rufz@yahoo.comI hope you all have a happy holiday season!!! Ruf-dawg
