It should definitely be a top 15. The people who continuously do not play, and have not played for years should be booted from the rankings. Cracking the top 15 and moving up to the top 5 should be a lot easier than moving up in the top 5. Top 5 should consist of continuously placing high, and winning tournaments. I don't quite have a top 15, because i don't have other players stats from recent tournaments in Buffalo. However, my top 10 rankings are as follows.
10. Brian Nelson- Consistently has good wins every tournament and plays everyone tough 9. Doug Davis- Smoked his Buffalo bracket, and has some very good records against the top players. 8. Bill Brooks- One of the best slappers in the game and knows how to win 7. Scot Storch- making a comeback lately and always seems to upend a top player. 6. Mark Woj- always places or wins in buffalo tournaments, but never seems to leave his hometown 5. Al Jennings- Is slowly dropping. No doubt a top 3 player, but he's tough to come by in a tournament. However, when he shows up he means business 4. Ken Dubois- Solid doubles performance in buffalo, and took almost 9 OT's total to lose in singles. Always dangerous 3. Jimmy S- has had Jeremy's number lately, but couldn't pick up the tournament win. Going to need some more solid wins to move up.. and 2 career tournament wins won't get you higher than 3rd 2. John Gaffney- back to back impressive wins. Has made a drastic jump in the rankings and is making a strong case for number one. In my mind, a home court W won't leap you over Ken and Jeremy. Next tournament will prove a lot. 1. Jeremy D- Struggled against Jimmy, but swept the rest of the field with a #1 seed after round robin play. An impressive series (sweep) against Scott, and an impressive sweep of Ken in buffalo. Next tournament will show where Jeremy really belongs.

The problem is we are all doing our rankings by a different criteria. Airjerd is doing his by overall body of work. Brian and I are doing ours by what are you doing for me latly. Just like college basketball. We all need to come into an agreement on how are we going to base our rankings.

Mine is a mix of both worlds, with a more steady top 5, and a much loose (tournament to tournament)... college basketball bottom. Gives credit to the top players consistency, while acknowledging the players who have recently caught fire, pulled big upsets or recently emerged out of nowhere..... Just my thoughts

If the ICE nationals do take off this year this tourney will clear up a lot of the questions. There will be no need for speculation if you base it on that. ;D

ICE would like the Buffalo tourney to go National with qualifying dates in cites like Boston, NYC, Toronto, and Philly. This could start as soon as Nov with a number of qualifiers in the Buffalo area . The finals would be in Buffalo. Close to Budlight we have gotten so far, more to come.

I've only heard from a handful of people about the Chexxfan.com Top 10 player rankings, soon to be revised this month. Any more input? Right now the biggest debates are:
Who should be #1 - Jeremy or JG seem to be the only 2 names thrown out there right now, and;
Should we do a college basketball type ranking system, with higher rankings for "hot" players and credit for more recent accomplishments in the past 12 months, or a golf/tennis system that rewards good performances over a long period of time (say 2-3 years). That also is fueling the debate over the current #1 - JG recently with 2 straight wins in loaded tourneys, or Jeremy who over the past few years has clearly been the most accomplished top player?
Weigh in soon - the polls close in only a few days!!!

You know how it is JG, everyone will be more than happy to voice their displeasure (oops, I mean input) AFTER the new rankings are posted! -I'd be down for CT on the 12th of June as long as I can hitch a ride with one of the Jersey boys

Ok, here is my top ten. I agree with Jeremy. I think putting the top 15 would be better but I wasn't at Buffalo to see all of the talent there so here is my input. The next tournament should be interesting.
1. John Gaffney-wins Buffalo and the most recent tournament in Burlington & with these being the most recent, I have to give it to JG. He is on his game! 2. Jimmy Schwartz-with 2 big series wins over Jeremy and the 2009 & 2010 tourney wins in Burlington I have Jimmy slightly edging Jeremy. 3. Jeremy Davis-It was a really tough call between 2 & 3 for me as you could make a case either way, as Jeremy does have a good point about his impressive series sweeps vs Scott & Ken as of late. 4. Al Jennings- a top notch player. I have him at 4 as it comes down to recent appearances. 5. Kenny Dubouis-Back in the mix with that impressive showing in Buffalo. 6. Woj-Great Veteran Player who consistenlty places well. 7. Scott Storck- had a top 3 performance pretty recent in Burlington. 8. Bill Brooks (me)-Usually competes with best but hasn't one a big one yet 9. Doug Davis-Great all around player and can compete with anyone. 10. Bryan Nelson-can pull out some victories over some top notch players.

The weekend of June 12th doesn't look good for me but I'm working on some other dates and will get back to you guys shortly. But if you can get together a bunch of bubblers the 12th don't wait on me - my summer schedule is insane as always so I'm the tough one to schedule around until around October. But I'm working on alternate dates...
As for the rankings, I've gotten a grand total of 7 people's input, mostly from the SJBHL players, which might skew the results. Polls close this Friday 5/13, so get in your input NOW!!! The rankings will come out in May, and maybe ICE will use them for preliminary seedings at some of their upcoming tournaments, so let your voice be heard!!!

I agree with john, these votes seem to be one sided with the south jersey league. But these rankings are turning into a joke. The last I checked, 6 of the top 7 players consistently play in tournaments, so these drastic jumps that Jeremy mentioned aren't needed. Ever considered keeping chexxfan as a yearly rankings, and doing njbubblehockey.org as Current rankings (tournament to tournament)??
Having a college basketball format makes no sense. There aren't 30+ tournaments per year, but people are shifting around in the rankings like they are. I see Jimmy had some good wins, but putting him at #2 is a complete joke. A couple tournament wins in his lifetime on the bubbles he has played with every week for years, and can't crack the top 4 in any tournament anywhere else. He was ranked #4 AFTER his tournament wins, then finished out of the top 5 and 2nd and yet people have him moving up to 2nd.... doesn't make any sense to me.
I have to go against the south jersey league and agree with jeremy ,that although impressive wins all around, how can john jump kenny and jeremy.... and how can jimmy possibly jump the same two?? Give this site some credibility with their rankings. If your good enough you will get there... Most importantly I think we should have John's input on the rankings... Clearly the main fight seems to be in the top 3, so why not ask the 3rd person.

First off, Putting Jimmy ahead of Jeremy is a complete joke? I have more tournament wins then your brother the last 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!! I have won 2 tournaments while I cant even remember the last time Jeremy has won. I am 7-1 lifetime against Jeremy in tournaments. Basically its getting to the point of me being bored playing him because I am beating him so much. I am also getting to the point that I feel like I am playing my sister or girlfriend when I am playing him. I swept him the last series I played. I mean come on. How many times do I have to beat the guy to go ahead of him. Second off, I cant finish anywhere in the top 4 at any tournament outside of New Jersey? ? I have only played two tournaments outside of jersey and the first one doesnt even count because I only had been playing for a couple of months when I entered that one. My second tournament I finished in the top 8 but was 2 goals from making it in the top 4. So that statement is just plain Stupid because I really havent had an oppourtunitys to play outside of Jersey. John has won the last two tournys easily and has dominated everyone. He embarassed Jeremy in Buffalo. Jeremy has not been the best bubble hockey player the last two years. and that is a FACT THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!
