I agree but then I disagree when it comes to the next tournament being crucial. For example, John Gaffney has had my number since I have been playing, so that means if I beat him next tournament I am better then him? I mean rankings should be based on who is playing the best right now. So who is playing the best as of May 13,2011. John Gaffney is playing the best right now, so he deserves to be ranked number 1 . I have been playing the second best. Jeremy is playing the third best. Thats the way these ranking should be. If Jeremy beats me the next tourney, he jumps because that he means he is better then me at that moment. There are exceptions to that kind of rule. For example, upsets.
Just my opinion

soooo, i've had John's number my whole life and now that he beats me once, you think he jumps me..... quite the contradiction there jimmy

Since we seem to have input from only a small # of people, and since we have no real consensus within that small sample, here's what I came up with for these rankings:
Inverted point values for Top 10 votes - i.e., a 1st place vote = 10 points, 2nd place vote = 9 points, and so on down the line. So there would be voter input (shame on those who don't vote then), plus:
Inverted points for order of finish in a tournament, with double points for winning the tourney - i.e., 10 points for finishing first in a tourney, x2, = 20 points; 9 points for finishing 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, etc, all the way down to 1 point for finishing 10th. Finishing lower than 10th = 0 points for that event. I'd calculate these tournament points for the 3 most recent years only (going back to the 2009 New Era tourney), and only for events where there was at least a double digit turnout and multiple tables involved (this gets away from me, for example, having 6 guys in my basement and calling that a "tournament" in order to rack up points).
What does everyone think of that as a compromise? I think it is workable and fair, and rewards performance over a period of time (most recent 3 years), plus current voter perception (the "eye-test" if you will). I'm going to put it together today and see how it all adds up...should be interestin if nothing else. More to follow...

I put it together a comprehensive points based ranking system this afternoon but can't seem to figure out how to import my spreadsheet to this post - any suggestions?

Here's a link to the Cheexxfan.com Welcome Page with the latest Top 20 Player rankings (and the convoluted and long winded explanation that seems to follow everything I try to do ) This is not just my doing, but a collaborative effort with everyone who sent me their input the past few months. Let the controversy roll... www.chexxfan.com/And look soon for the Chexfan.com "All Time Champions" list soon to follow. I'll need some help from some of the "old-timers" like "bubbleal," "sully" and maybe some others for the old KONE/KONY results, and from Woj for some of the old local Buffalo results, and maybe "BTSmooth" or Craig Cole out in St. Louis for some of those prior results, both local tourneys and from the old IBHF National Championships, and maybe from Tony Hernandez out in Utah or anyone else that has run tournament of more than 10 players. Get me the info, guys, and I'll plug it into the rankings formula, and we can start generating an "All Time Greatest" list for all the game's great players, past and present! Should be pretty cool! Cheers all!!! JG

Here are the up-to-the-minute www.NJBubbleHockey.org exclusive World Bubble Hockey Player Rankings, with Jeremy Davis firmly seated as the World's #1 Bubbler as of 3/31/12: www.njbubblehockey.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=107:2011-world-bubble-hockey-rankings-revealed&catid=21:njbubblehockeyorg-world-rankings&Itemid=2As you can see, aside from Jeremy being far and away the #1 bubbler, many of the other spots in the Top 10 and Top 20 are up for grabs. Future tournament results may dramatically alter the standings, and don't forget - at the end of 2012, points earned in 2009 will drop out of the ranking formula, so if you want to keep earning points you have to play in tournaments. The next event is scheduled in New Jersey May 5, 2012. It will be a 24 player field, and several spots are already claimed, so if anyone is interested contact JG asap by replying to this post, or via email at: njbubblehockey@verizon.net. Check back here at Chexxfan.com and at www.njbubblehockey.org/ for updates and all the tournament info coming soon!!!

Well everyone has there opinion on the rankings (and we all know what they say about that) but here is mine.
First I think it should be a what have you done for me lately ranking if you have not played well in the last few events your rankings should suffer
The nice thing about that is that with top players being so closely matched you can have some real movement.
1) Jeremy Davis- won both events in Buffalo(likely the biggest 2 events we may see for some time -all top players were present)as well as just winning the Labatt's National Championship. This should not even be questioned
2) Ken Dubouis- Last 4-5 events his only loses are to Jeremy Davis, not to mention not one the the next players on the ranking have EVER knocked Ken from a event
3)Doug Davis- was in final 4 first day in Buffalo and came in second in day 2 came in top 4 in Philly also won Bridgeport Ct to go to Labatts Nationals
4) Bill Brooks- Played very well in Buffaloboth days and won the Winter Classic Championship in Philly.
5) John Gaffney-Won I.C.E Championship and one the N.J events but did poorly both days in Buffalo has not been top player isn the last 3-4 events he has played
6) Mark "Woj"- Did not play well in Buffalo , but played fantastic in Labatts National could easly be ranked higher
7) Jimmy Swartz- I think Jimmy is a really great player but I have not see him have results in the larger events, but also could be ranked higher with acouple big wins
These are my thoughts,I would love to see your opinion
