Hey, do you guys know the almighty Bob Young from right there in Mt.Laurel NJ? Supposedly he never loses, see these articles from around 1999 - 2000: www.sjsports.com/y2kpa/bubble20000209.htmlwww.sjsports.com/y2kpa/ibeatpete.htmlIn these articles it says this: Bob Young, of Mt. Laurel, NJ Bob Young is the National Bubble Hockey Champion. Before the "I Beat Pete" challenge, Bob's overall record was 4999-5. I provided 10 of the 4999 wins for Bob Young. His best friend and sparring partner, Mike Patterson, has 1 of the 5 wins against Bob, but also has a lot of the losses So let's try and get this guy to the NJBHC tournament! When I was out there last (~2003) Scott Storck, Bill Brooks and I all tried to get this guy to come just a few miles to where Scott works (there is a game there) so that we could see how good he is. I, believe it or not, even went to his house (not cause I'm a nut, but because earlier he said that he wanted to play me) and when I got there he kept ducking me. So I say we call this guy out !!!!! Let's see how good his win percentage is after playing the caliper of players that will be at the NJBHC. ;D

Never heard of the guy. and if he was that good, how come he never made to the Bubble Boy finals 1998-2003? My guess - none of us will ever see or hear from him again. But if we do, I'm in for a game or 2 - I'd sure like to be an old geezer someday and be able to say "Yep, way back in 2005 I gave that guy loss #6 " Do you and your partner have a team name yet for the NJBHC? I see you put one of these there (unless I did that by mistake - I'm no computer geek, that's for sure. I can barely type using more than a couple of fingers). Send me an email at home with your name if you guys know it (JJGLAP@JUNO.COM). I'd like to keep this postboard (Player list for NJBHC)clear of posts other than the player list I'm compiling, if I could. This way when people come to this postboard, all they'll see will be the updated player list. Thanks alot.

ONLY 60 DAYS till the NJBHC!!!! I Predict Utah will do great things !!!!!! (I hope anyway!) And what the heck, I saw the names that have already signed up!! Where are all those hotshots at. I know Al, Jim, Bill and the Jersey guys are on there, but where are the rest of you? Scott S., Kenny, the NY guys, the rest of you CT. & VT dudes, what are you waiting for -->some dramatic entrance? (ha ha). I'm hoping the NJBHC is STACKED. I want to see the best of the best battle it out. Heck, I'm paying alot of money to fly out there just to get a bubble beat down!

Tony, my man, I'm with ya!!! Jimmy and I have promotional flyers printed up and as of August 1 they will go up at Whistler's, as well as both of the softball leagues we play in, both of our places of work, and anywhere else we can put them up. Whistler's also will put up a notice on their marquee. I anticipate local interest will peak quickly. I even sent in a programming proposal to ESPN - we may get ESPN coverage ! (no promises, but we're working on it!)
Even though turnout is small right now, let me reiterate that once we get 48 people signed up and PAID, the doors will be closed no matter who you are. I'd love for the best players in the country to be there, but Jimmy and I are fronting our own money for printed T-shirts, trophies, the room rental, and other misc. things - the 1st 48 to pay are the 1st 48 to play. Period. If anyone thinks there will be exceptions made they are mistaken.
Having said that, let's get the best players there! Hopefully we can get some local media coverage even if ESPN doesn't come through, so let's put on a good show. So I join Tony in calling out the best of the best...

I have heard through a top guy at bud light that the bubble boys nationals will not be back for 05-06. Bummer. It is being replaced by another event. No idea what it is but it's not bubble.

The check is officially in the mail (and other lies that salesmen tell) for Bubble Agents! Sadly I don't think we're going to be able to put together another team from work, but maybe...

are you planning on having the 2 Utahans in the same bracket? We hope not, we play each other all the time.

Yea I agree it is nice to spit up partners when you can. It is a good way to play against some other styles than you are used to.

Alright AirJerd, let the trash talk begin. As recently posted on Utahbubblehockey.com, here is the LEGEND and prediction posted the front page of the website:
On 24 September 2005 two men will travel nearly 2,000 miles to a ground on which they were born. To regain what was once there’s. A ground in which they ruled in a game called Bubble Boy Hockey. Long before most of you were born, we were the best of the best. Now 20 years later Teacher Vs Student in a game that was once ruled by the Elders. On 24 September, 2 men will become legends or simply mortals. The Stormin Mormon are coming! Prepare to be Baptized.
All in fun ofcourse, but we are excited to get it going!

Tony:
Most likely no. I'm thinking of doing it either 1 of 2 ways:
1) Separating brackets by my best guess of talent level, trying to get a good mix of top to bottom players in each bracket, or; 2) Pulling names from a hat and letting the chips fall where they may.
No matter how I do it, I will absolutely try to keep partners out of the same bracket. I also however don't want to lump all the NJ guys in a bracket, or get a bracket that's loaded with "A" quality players who beat each other up and then having to have 1 or more of those guys end up in the "B" flight in the tournament, so there are several things to consider. But I think it should be no problem to accomodate you guys. Less than a month to go - I'm getting psyched!!!

Did anyone else notice that Sully wrote "spit up" a partner instead of "split up" a partner? Or maybe that's what he meant to say . In case anyone doesn't know, Sully is a raging homosexual - not that there's anything wrong with that . Just kidding - Sully would never spit up his partner...he's no spitter . That's why I love that guy!
