hey tardy23, would you be interested in painting my players for a a nominal fee? You do awesome work and I'd like to hire out the job to someone who knows what the heck they are doing.
Thanks, dingo

Tardy, I am also interested in a custom job. I just got a new chexx and want to get Islanders vs. Rangers done for it. Can you please let me know if you do work for others. Thanks Bob.

Nice job Dan..They look good..Can you post some close ups of the players? I see you are in SJ...Why don't you stop over to one of our league nights...We play every other Tuesday night. We are always looking for new players. The league is winding down but I'm sure we will be doing it again. Even if you want to stop by this season you can still get some games in.

i love the pictures, all! everyone thats posted pics on these boards has done amazing work with customizing players and tables. the more pics, the merrier... keep posting.
i am currently debating buying a table. i am definitely going to get a new one... and, at this point, its not a matter of if, but rather when i get one. and i see myself enjoying the painting/customization as much i would enjoy playing it!
i see that a lot of you put decals on the boards... very cool. question: has anyone ever done anything to the ice surface with logos, etc.? i imagine it would be tough, as stickers or paint would effect the playability of the surface, and would also tend to wear quickly. has anyone ever done anything to the surface, or have you ever seen anything done? i may be mistaken, but i recall a website i found a while back where a company offered to customize the surface with logos, advertisements, etc. im probably dreaming, as i have been unable to find it since.
thoughts?

I have actually run into a dome that has the ice with logos on it and it looked really cool. I don't really know how they did it, but it was at the KONE III. So it is definately possible. Also for those who paint players, how much is that whole deal if I were to already have the players?

Yes, the company you are speaking about was CIA Games and it was run by Russ Kaisen (Sp?) and another guy by the name of Mike Bologna (I believe) who was his partner. They are no longer in business. They had a game which had a few logo's on the ice and I think they were air brushed on. It looked cool but I have to tell you that it drove me crazy playing on that game because the ice surface was so "busy" it was tough to focus. This is the table that d2sportzmn12889 is speaking of.
Actually, the story goes that the new ICE logo that you now see at center of the ice on the new Chexx games was actually designed by Russ and Mike...This is also the logo you see on the ICE website. Sully or Al may be able to shed some more light on Russ and CIA games.
As for the purchase of a new game, they are costly but if you are going to make the purchase be sure to buy from an authorized dealer because if not I have heard that ICE may not honor the warranty if the game comes from an un-auth'd dealer. You can actually get them cheaper from a dealer then you can from ICE direct.. All of the games I own were purchased used and I shopped them out but none of them were in terrible shape. You can do it either way but if you don't want the hassle of a fix-er-up-er then I say go ahead and buy new if it's in the budget. My only recommendation is that you stay with a Chexx because IMO the other brands don't come close in play or quality. Keep us posted and Good Luck!

I'm not sure if this picture is too big, but I will try anyway. The skates take some serious damage even with multiple coats of lacker.

For all 12 players.
They sure do. It's not just the skates that take a beating though, there are other spots that will eventually chip which is why I do not paint the sticks. There are a few guys who custom paint players and they paint the sticks. I think it's a waste of time, they will chip the most so why bother. The players themselves take a beating but just think about how much stress is put on the sticks. I touch up the players in my games from time to time but it's the skates that need the most work. I am trying a few things out with painting methods to see if I can find something that will take a bit more abuse and hold up. Don't get me wrong, they players I have done still look excellent (just ask anyone who was at the Del Val Classic) but the skates will chip no matter what.
