Hi all,
I'm new to Chexx hockey, and have been reintroduced since my work office has acquired a 2005 Super Chexx Flames/Jets game and has got me hooked!
I'm definitely getting one for home use, either brand new or a used fixer upper that i'll customize with Oilers/Flames or Oilers/Canucks.
My question is, if I get a new Super Chexx with generic players, but the new LCD jumbotron, can I find a software update to change the scoreboard from Red vs Blue to any two NHL teams? Since this generi unit is $500 USD cheaper than the NHL version, I thought I could get the generic players painted, then if I can update the software to show the true NHL teams, I might save a bit of cash.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks! Mike in Western Canada.

As far as I know there are only the generic red/blue videos even if you buy the NHL version and no one has been able to change the videos to custom ones yet. If you buy new the $500 is probably worth it, unless you are going to paint the players yourself. By the time you get two teams painted and add logos to the ice, boards, and base you are probably spending most of the $500.

Thanks for the advice Latenite04. I have been crunching the numbers and came to the same conclusion. I'll get the NHL licensed version and get the team logos on the digital scoreboard. I realize the animated part of the jumbotron is the generic red/blue teams, which is too bad.
Party Pucks in Canada can do nice numbering on the backs and sleeves of the players, and I'll consider doing that as well.

Hi Mike, wondering where you are located. I live in Edmonton and have an older Super Chexx that is having some electrical issues. Wondering if you know anyone or have some electrical background.
Thanks!
