Hello, I was wondering if the people who have painted their players put a protective coating on them or did you find that wear is really minimal so it wasn't necessary Thanks....I'm thinking of doing a 1986 All Star...Wales vs Campbell i think that would be cool!!!

Protective coating seems to be the way to go - can't go wrong with another layer of protection, as the paint jobs will take a beating over time. Check your finish type for the clear coat - flat vs glossy are 2 different looks (no shine vs shine), depending what look you are going for. Good luck, and post some pics when you're done.

I would suggest not painting the sticks on any custom jobs. Painting them brown will seem cool and look great in the beginning, mbut they will chip and look like hell almost immediately. You will also have part chips/flecks all over your ice surface and they are a pain to keep cleaning up. Ask me how I know.....
