My original Chexx has a little quirk in that it will start flashing multiples of the current score for a few seconds and then settle back down to the existing score. For example if it's 4-2 it will start quickly flashing thru 8-4, 2-0, 4-2 but it will do it very quickly for a few seconds and then back to 4-2. I've got a spare dead motherboard, I guess I'll start with it so I can just swap them out.

Yeah, sounds like the main board might be going south, that's a pretty old machine. But I believe ICE can still repair or replace them for a fairly reasonable cost.

I got lucky, I think there are some cold solder joints in the ribbon going from the mb to the scoreboard. It looks like someone tried to repair it previously, there's a local arcade repair that I'll have resolder the connector.
