Hi to You all, proud owners of SUPER CHEXX !!
Blaaze here from Montreal, canada.
Any of you ever thought that SUPER CHEXX tables were factory made a little to low for adults ??
I am 5'8'' and i am not the tallest player, i am sure. Upon purchasing my unit last winter, i quickly noticed i always leaned my upper body a little in front, and after a few games i always felt my back burning. Most of my friends are 6' feet +, they sure have the same problem and worse they can't even see the net since their view is blocked by the scoreboard.
Well i recently decided it was time to raise the unit. I first started by putting it on 4 x 4 but it was not the best move since the table kept moving around while playing and i always had to stop playing to put it back in its place. I also tried a wooden pallet for a while to prevent the base from moving, but it still moved, and it was far from being easthetic.
So i decided to make a nice wooden platform of 35-5/8 square foot, with some 2 x 3'' and a 1/4'' plywood plate to cover the whole thing. the height is now around 3-1/2 inch.
Then it hit, to finish the whole project with some aluminium 1/16'' checker plate. I even cut the checker plate at the height of 5'', so it goes over the wooden plate by 2 inchs, and serves has a blocker and locks the whole base on the four sides of the unit.
And i assure you, it no longer moves at all while playing now...
And the result.... see for yourself. (see pic)
I must say that this is the perfect height for the machine, my back no longer burns even after an hour of play, my friends can now see the net and all the action all the way to the end of the ice....i even made another wooden box for my 4 year old son so he can play with me.
i never understood why ICE never thought of making 2 versions of the table, a kids version and an adults version. They should also sell some platforms, but anyway. Its good to make it yourself, it brings greater value to your unit in my point of view.
Its nothing comlicated to do. If any of you wants some advice regarding building the platform, post your questions and and i'll get back to you.
Enjoy
