hello, i just bought a bud light chexx hockey game and it has a minor problem. the game plays well no problems mechanically . the problem is once in a while the sound just gives out and its just a loud buzzing sound, but if i unplug it and plug it back on it sometimes fixes it if not just a tap on the outside of the base where the board is located fixes it too, and will go a while before it does it again. I've checked for loose connections etc but can't find none .any help would be great. thank you

Did anyone get back to you on this? I also recently bought a used Bud Light edition and have had issues with sounds. Adjusting the volume has been difficult...it goes from barely audible to over loud (making the static sounds even worse). Looking for ideas on how to fix...

I have sound issues with my 1983 and was told it was likely the caps starting to go.

When turning a volume up or down a dirty connection might sound awful and give inconsistent volumes? Could swap it out for one of the same type or clean it? Just a guess.

Did any of those suggestions work? I have the same problem with my '83 chexx. All sounds were perfect until I adjusted the volumn the other day. My organ sounds are still fine, but the crowd cheers and boos are just loud crackling. The volumn knob doesn't seem to work at all anymore. I.C.E told me to replace the volume control assembly, but they only sell one meant for Super Chexx. So, I'll have to cut off the new connector and splice the 3 wires to my old pin connection. Also complicating things, the wires on the new cable are colored differently.

Sorry for the delay - I haven't been on the board for a while. Yes, cleaning the pots made a very noticeable difference. Actually, even just working the volume knob back and forth for a while made a big improvement in the sound and my ability to adjust the volume up or down smoothly.

Oh, I wish that would fix mine, but I think something worse is wrong with it. Even with the volume unplugged from the board, I get the same static sounds. I sent my board to I.C.E. but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They told me it must be the speakers or the wires, but I doubt that because the moog keyboard sounds play fine without any static. I think some of my rom chips got fried when I adjusted the volume, but that would mean that I.C.E. is wrong when they say they tested all the sounds. I'd like to pull some of the chips to see if I can isolate which ones are defective, but I'm afraid of doing more damage because they are tightly socketed to the board. Does anyone know which chips relate to which sounds?
