I was wondering if anyone might have any information on the reed switches used in the 1983 CHEXX. These trigger the "Oh" sound when the puck gets near the crease.
I have three of these reed switches where the glass is broken. The switches still function but I don't think they operate perfectly as often a sound error will occur and silence all sound until the switch is triggered again or the player hits the "boo" button.
The stencilling on the glass of the switches themselves indicate they were made by General Electric but I cannot find replacement ones. Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers

Did you ever have any luck with this? I am in the same boat. One of my sensors has broken switches. Please share if you found out anything?

Did you ever have any luck with this? I am in the same boat. One of my sensors has broken switches. Please share if you found out anything? Hey there, I have not found replacement glass reed switches for the original ones. I was asking around on Montreal Arcade and Amusement Collectors Association forums and have been told that the sound error I am experiencing might be the result of bad capacitors on the board. I am going to swap out the caps for new ones of the same type... Are you having the same type of sound issue? My sound works fine in all other respects except SOMETIMES when the puck enters the crease or gets close to the goal I will get an odd digital noise and the crowd sound will just stop. I can regain sound again if I push the boo button or the puck gets near the goal again. The error is easy to replicate. I am not sure any more if it is the reed switches, one side has 2 broken, the other side has 1, even the ones that are not broken seem to produce this sound issue... I will let you know what happens when I replace the caps. I still have to order them so it will be a little bit. All that being said another fellow on this forum was having an issue with his shots on goal and OH sensor not working on a newer game. He said he carefully cleaned his reed switches and the board and now they work. I cleaned mine but had no luck in reducing the frequency of the sound issue. Cheers, let me know if you are having the same problem or any new info. This is the last issue I have to fix with my machine. D

Did you ever have any luck with this? I am in the same boat. One of my sensors has broken switches. Please share if you found out anything? I actually ended up trading a guy for one of his old ones. I've replaced all the broken components and thoroughly cleaned them. My sound issue is still present =(. I have the old one that came off my game if you want it. I can send you a pic, it has several broken reed switch tubes on it. You might be able to salvage one? Cheers.
