Has anyone played on a Shelti Thunderdome? Whats it like compared to the Chexx? I'm being serious here so please don't slam me for the fun of it... I just wanted to know because I am thinking of buying one and I thought I'd ask the experts their opinions. I don't need a salesman blowing smoke... so I thought this would be the place to get some good information. Thanks

Welcome to Chexxfan but why are you posting this question here? Please try posting it in the hardware question area and you will get more response not to mention that is where this question belongs. Many here will give you their opinions but I'd rather not be doing this in the wrong forum. I would encourage everyone to hold off on posting comments until this goes to the correct forum because this will only confuse everyone looking in this section.

The next Chexx bubble hockey tournament is in Burlington, NJ, Saturday June 2nd. 3-4 tables, 20 players, singles only, food/brew included, [glow=red,2,300] $$$ for the top finishers[/glow]. [glow=red,2,300] Right now it is $100 for the winner[/glow]! Who wants in? Anyone?!? JORD76?!? Yeah, right - I'll hold my breath (someone get a paramedic on speed dial!!! ;D). But seriously, I'll be posting a player list soon - I've already got 5 commitments, but the $25 entry fee talks louder than words. The first 20 to pay are the first 20 to play. See the Tournament Link for more info, or go to njbubblehockley.org or playbubble.org for even more info. JG

It's been over 2 weeks, and not a single reply to my post 03/27/07 about the upcoming tournament June 2. So far I've gotten interest only from NJ/PA locals (from my league, the South Jersey Bubble Hockey League) and the Davis boys from CT, so many spots are still open. I know it is only mid-April, but the June 2 date is less than 2 months away. I put a preliminary player list up in the "Upcoming Tournaments" section under the link for the Burlington "IceHouse" Invitational - only 6 "definites" to date and a couple other "probables." If anyone else is interested, respond to this post, or email me direct at: njbubblehockey@verizon.net

JG, what did you really expect? you are having a bubble hockey "tournament" in your basement. The Burlington "Icehouse" Invitational-YIPPEE!! WEEEEEEE!!! How pathetic!! since you are dictating who will be "allowed" to play at your little "party" why would anybody care to come? I realize that since I am the "Bad Boy of Bubble Hockey" i wont be holding my breath waiting for an invite in the mail. of course, I am certain that "Bubble Al" and BLOWJO will be clearing their busy schedules to be in attendance. you may as well invite all the elementary school children in your neighborhood to come play on your very OWN machine in your garage and serve koolaid all day long. you then can call it: JG's Garage Tourney & Daycare Invitational. if you invite these little children to come, it may allow BLOWJO to actually feel good about his weak, and i do mean pathetically weak, playing "skills". BLOWJO may even win a game or 2 against them. Hmmm...Wait a second...I just realized that must be why BLOWJO likes to call his team "Little People". All this time, I thought it was because of the size of his......

Hey Disrespect,
If I had a tournament I certainly wouldn't invite you over my house with the type of comments that you make. I consider Al and John friends and enjoy playing in there tournaments and hanging out. I have met Woj and I don't understand why you would have such a problem with him because he seems to me a genuinely nice guy. If you have a problem with someone it would probably be best if you call them up and talk to them man to man. That would take a lot more COURAGE.

Where to begin...This is really not worthy of a response, but I feel a need to set the record straight as to why my next event is an "Invitational" and to shed some light for all of you on Mr. Steele (he really is quite troubled):
Marc:
The reason YOU are not invited (and you're not) has actually very little to do with bubble hockey:
1) Your inane (that's not a typo -Websters = "lacking sense or substance; empty") comments on this board, including offensive remarks about various persons (Al, Sully, Mark, and for some reason now me), constant need for attention, and foul-mouthed punk-ass aggression are not welcome in my home, especially if it interfered with the tournament enjoyment of the other players;
2) I don't have the time or resources to pick up 50 empty wristband casings and used wristbands that would undoubtedly litter my home should you ever be allowed in it (that part is a joke on Marc's OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder - with his whole wristbands thing (very strange, but also very amusing to watch);
3) Most importantly, and frankly the only reason I need - [glow=red,2,300]YOU ARE A CONVICTED FELON![/glow] I repeat - [glow=red,2,300]A CONVICTED FELON!![/glow] I can't (and won't) allowed someone I know to be a convicted felon and, more importantly, a current probation client, to enter my home - that's strictly business, as we discussed in St. Louis when you were trying to get me to tell you how to beat a drug screen from the Judge/Probation Officer so that you wouldn't have to go to jail - again (I of course declined). Professionally, I can't condone your criminal inclinations and drug use. Everyone who enters my home knows the rules - no drugs or crime. If you aren't willing to abide by that, then you are not welcome in my house. And your criminal history suggests you can't abide by either, so you aren't welcome. Nothing against anyone with a prior conviction, but my home is my home. Case closed.
To everyone out there, though, don't be mad at Marc - take pity on him. He has very little going for him in life - his skills in bubble hockey are really all he has good to look forward to each morning (and he has game - make no mistake, he can play some bubble). But the files on him I've seen paint a picture of a very disturbed man:
a) A diagnosis at an early age of O.D.D. (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), which makes it very hard for him take direction or orders from other people, makes him resentful and angry at authority figures, instills an unhealthy paranoia in him, and keeps him mired in a dead-end career, devoid of any personal happiness in life;
b) The aforementioned OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), manifested comically in the wristbands but pervasive in some way, shape, or form in all aspects of his life, making him very resistant to change and unable to function well when his daily routine is disrupted;
c) ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), which causes him in part to lash out at others to get attention, and to not pay attention to others wants/needs/instructions;
d) a low-to-borderline retarded IQ rating of 73, which makes it very hard for him to adjust to changes in situations and learn social skills, hence his inability to get along well with others (exasperated by his ODD, OCD, and ADHD) or make any kind of cohesive sense in his ramblings.
These are all significant disorders in and of themselves - combining them together puts a person squarely behind the 8-ball from the get go. Treatment options are available, and many people with even severe manifestations of these maladies are able to function quite well with the proper medications and social services. Marc, however, chooses to deny his afflictions and hide behind false bravado and alcohol, which helps explain in part his bizarre rantings on this board and his even more troubling behaviors...
So I'm not mad at you, Marc, far from it - in fact, you have my pity and sympathy. I know you need mental health help, and I know you'll never get it or even allow yourself access to it, and I think that is a shame. Maybe with the right treatment or medications, you could live a normal life and be a reasonable and pleasant person. But alas, it seems you'll always be the same scared, self-absorbed, paranoid, and troubled little boy in a man's body you are today, and no one - not even you - can be happy with that. So take of yourself out there, guy. Good luck - looks like you'll need it.
PS - or maybe the "sham of steele" was just all drunked up and running his mouth again (his post was at 12:51am this morning)!

I have been trying not to pile on mark "the tool"steele, but i just can no longer help my self. I have been preaching tolerance of mark for a long time. but i have to say John you have hit the nail right on the head. But have to say his jealousy of mark woj is comical. i understand the reason, woj is a nice guy, he helps recruite new tallent, and has won the bud light nationals(03) unlike steele who just acts like a jerk when people are around. Steele has yet to figure what even my 12 year old has, respect is earned not freely given. Steele wants to be the bad boy of bubble, when we all, know he is just a tool.

Guess who’s back!!! How was your summer boys? I can tell you I never skipped a beat, still going hard to the net, bank plays, one timers and many more moves in my repertoire! What’s the story with KONE? Did you guys feel me coming on harder than the Yankees? The last tournament I played in was back in May (which I won) in Hamilton, Ontario. I am the “Bubble Cup” Champion of the world but have only played a few games against a friend since then. So who wants to step up? Who wants to learn a thing or two at the school of Jord76. You may attend my classes all you want, but don’t expect to graduate as this Professor is in his prime!!!

[glow=red,2,300]All right, bubblers, time to raise it up a notch...[/glow]I have completely redesigned the format for the upcoming "IceHouse" Invitational 11/08/08 in Burlington, NJ... [glow=red,2,300]The new format???[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] South Jersey Bubble Hockey League (S.J.B.H.L.) takes on all comers!!![/glow] ;D That's right - here's the deal...We'll put all our S.J.B.H.L. league members in one pool, and anyone else who thinks they can hang in another pool. The 2 pools will play each other only (no inner-pool games), and whatever team has the most wins at the end of the night is crowned the champion. AND GETS THEIR $20 ENTRY FEE REFUNDED FOR EVERYONE ON THE TEAM!!![glow=red,2,300] Intrigued?!? [/glow]Hope so. I'd like to get an 8-10 man team from the S.J.B.H.L. and an equal #of players from outside the league (The Davis boys and Kieran from CT, Sully/Al/Sean Sparks from Boston, maybe JORD76 and Jason from Toronto, Justin from Ohio, Tony from Utah...) - whoever you want. If you don't come up with enough players, we'll let you have a "blind draw" from out of our player pool to round out your team and even up the sides if need be. We will do singles and doubles, kinda like a Ryder Cup format for those of you who follow golf. And a double elim tournament, too, with A, B, and C flights where you can really rack up some win points (3 points for a series win in the winner's bracket!). $20 entry fee per player. If I get 20 players, that is $400 - $200 will go back to the winning team, and the other $200 for food/beers/soda/water, etc. No trophies this time. [glow=red,2,300] Anyone interested now??? [/glow]The tourney is 4 weeks away, so I need to know who is definitely in...and let the trash talking begin... By the way, here is a potential S.J.B.H.L. lineup - Scott Storck, Bill Brooks, JG, Jason James, Brian Nelson, Dan Petitt, Zane Kalemba, Mark Krasner, maybe even Jim Bernard and "Monkey," LArry Jefford, Joe Tornotore, Glenn Curtis, just to name a few - anyone think they can hang???

4 days and no reply post to the "SJBHL vs all comers" showdown tournament 11/08/08?!? Jeremy, Doug, and Kieran from CT are in - no one else? Guess the bubble world really is dead. Stiga, Coleco, Benej, Munro - all these little rinky-dink table top hockey games (no offense) have a fanatical following, with guys traveling all over the country (and out of country) to play the games they love - Chexx doesn't have the same passionate following?!?!? Guess I better dust off my Stiga table. I know times are tough $$$wise, but my tourney is only $20, I'm feeding and boozing you, and you can win your $20 back at the end?!? Free entry fee, food, and drinks - anyone within 4-5 hours drive should be down with this, if you call yourself a bubbler!!! Or at least throw out a post here on Chexxfan to say why you can't make it. I've got about 7-8 guys from the SJBHL who are in, plus the Davis boys and Kieran - that's 10-11 players right there. Anyone else want to enter the tournament?!? I'm going to keep running them - no one else on the East Coast is holding any tournaments any time soon. Hope to see some of you 11/08/08 - if not, guess the SJBHL wins the showdown by forfeit!!! ;D

JORD76, where have you been?!? I had forgotten how hilarious this "trash talk" thread had become, and this message board is pretty dead without you. The bubble world misses you...any chance of making it down to NJ next weekend for one of my tournaments? You made the last one, and you and Jason did fairly well...
There are still some spots open in the tournament next Saturday 11/08/08. If anyone wants to play in the event, post here or email JG at: njbubblehockey@verizon.net
See you all next weekend, and I'll post the results and some pictures both here on chexxfan and on my website (www.njbubblehockey.org). CHEERS, and Bubble On!!!

Yo 76,
Where are you located? If you are coming on here talking all of this crap you won't have any skills. You probably would not even be able to see the bubble with your lips flapping so much....or you would miss adjusting your goalie when I scored on you again cause you were so busy patting your self on your back. Bottomline, you got no cred to back up this crap. If you are looking for a game. I should say a quick demoralizing defeat shoot me a message. I will be happy to put you in your place. I will have 10 on you by the second period!
