I have something to say about these bios...after all, Trash Talk'n Supreme is my forum. First of all, I have played and beat Woj. In fact, I am undefeated against Woj. Secondly and finally, the number of defeats I have handed Jason Avery is higher than the number used to calculate China's population. And this is a fact, I now keep my Super Chexx board in his basement so he can practice more. So I had a rough outing, so did the 1986 Edmonton Oilers, but they and I will bounce back. See you in the Spring!

That's what I'm talking about, people! Woj, Avery - any replies? Anyone else think they belong in the upper echelon of the world under the dome???

How did i get bumped from 8Th to 9Th? Steele took my spot, I'm not to sure how i feel about that..... JG you obviously made the new rankings as you jumped the most spots. I could be wrong but i think i did take you to the house in the STL tourney. I would love to come to the east coast to play but unfortunately running 2 businesses and having a 3 year old consumes most of my time. Any time i get to travel choose to play poker tourneys something i love ALMOST as bubble but it is much much more profitable.
Mr. walker should get much respect and his game it strong but, if your taking rankings from other players for participation then i feel he should be ranked lower. We still try to play about once a month here in STL and i feel at lease one if not more of the players should be on your list. You can obviously only go with the information that you know but i think its very limited to the old bud light tourneys, old KONE tourneys and the league you run. Truth be told unless we ever get a national sponsor then its just groups of guys playing in bars and basements

Great points, Brian! Especially about some of the older names on the list and about Kelly, who actually I have to admit I've never seen play, so I was only going from what other people said. I did do the new rankings, and the ones that preceded them (along with Al) - it appears I'm the only one updating this site, and it isn't even mine! I redid the whole front page, and have been the only one updating it for about 2 years now - I think all those articles are mine, post-KONE. Wish others would get involved, but it doesn't appear that is going to happen...
I agree about the basements and bars, too, but it looks like that is all it is ever going to be. I'll keep doing my part to keep interest alive out here, but that is all I can do - I have a life also (though it must not seem like it sometimes!). I think I only put 4 of my league guys in the rankings, and I can't see any argument that they all belong there (although just where they belong is open to debate!). I don't know much about your guys - sorry. Make their case!
And yes, truth be told, you did beat me in a single game, loser's bracket match-up in St. Louis (though early in the am, with me having little or no beers in me is hardly a fair fight - I am powerless without the goon juice:-[ - sad but true.). However, how many times have you beaten the #1 ranked Jeremy, hmmm? Though he is clearly better than me, I at least have beaten him multiple times, including in several 3-game series - and your record against #1 would be?!?!? That was my rationale for my ranking as high as I am, and I think it is legit. That, and the fact that I have competed in close to a dozen events since 2003 in NJ, the Philly-area, the Pittsburgh area, MO (St. Louis), and MA (multiple KONE events, where I improved every year I went including winning my pool flight the last year they had it, and being the only one that year to beat eventual champion Al Jennings - 5-1 in pool play). So I gave myself points for playing anywhere, against anyone. But yours is a legitimate point and a legitimate beef, especially the Steele thing (may to rethink that one) and your head to head "w" over me. Sounds like the Texas, Oklahoma, Tech Tech argument - who is truly the better player? Don't know - guess we'll need to find a way to play more to find out! Beers are on me!!! ;D ;D
Great stuff from JORD76 and btsmooth - Anyone else?!? That is what this is all about - let's get some thoughts and comments flowing and re-energize interest in the bubble!!!

Good comments about the rankings so far! However, JG is the most active tournament holder in the country right now, and updating the site, so I think he gets to make the judgement call on the rankings until others across the country can cause some controversy (hope I spelled that right!). I know for me, I have dropped down on that list, and especially behind folks like Doug Davis (who although a great player, I think has only beat me once or twice out of 5 or 6 games), but he has been more active than me, and probably could take me to the cleaners now! Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that these rankings are subjective, and I think based on the following indicators: 1) Historic performance 2) Impact that person has made on the the player field [meaning did he leave a lasting impression with skill, balance or "get it done" performances] 3) match-ups 4) Pressure performances & 5) exposure to the largest diversity of player fields. I think everyone on that list hits or 1 or a few of th ose categories, hence they are on that list. However, those who hit most of those categories will earn the rise factor that is needed for ranking in the top 5. One suggestion that I think could cause more chatter, home town (player field/location) pride, and eventual debate, which could eventually lead to a desire to defend/prove claims for who is the best, is to have local/regional rankings. If those regional rankings are then posted with chatter and debate about who would be who, then will have ignited something. I could envision a day when someone from the top of various player fields get to play in DelVal or somewhere and then show who's got game! Then each area can argue about who they think is the best. Which in turn may cause people to want to get out and prove it. What do you think? I say Utah has got the best Bubblehockey players in the country (I don't really believe that, but what the heck, I'll start the trash talk!)

EVERYONE appreciates the work you put into not only this site but keeping regular tourneys going year round. Your a true pioneer to the world of bubble. I was just " trash talking"! Its true Jeremy put it on me in the 2nd STL national tourney and AL embarrassed me in the first one. I will say that my game was deffinatly much stronger the second year. Coming in 3rd to Jeremy and Al not to bad. Jeremy did spank me true. What you did not see is that after both national tourneys Jeremy and some others played till the sun came up back at the bar and i have handed him FEW defeats. Also playing doubles beating AL and Woj ( best dbls team ever?)to play Team Davis in the finals felt pretty good. Not only is Al that man ( i guess thats why hes "bubbleAl") but Woj won the bud light tourney i participated in, in 2002. We all know that you and Woj are the only ones keeping any form of bubble alive and we all very much appreciate that. Keep up the great work. I WILL try to get out east in 2009 for a tourney. I'm talking to someone from redbull and the St. Louis blues to get some kind of sponsorship. 2009 All star tix would be nice....Jeremy you better take me ;D

More great points Tony and Brian! Brian, those "w's" over Jeremy are things I would never know, so that's why we need you to point them out. It might also be good to hear from Jeremy and Al and some of the others near the top of the list to see who they think belongs near the the top, and why...I just made sh*t up. Maybe a better way to do this is what Tony suggests - have different regional top 10 lists. Or I've been thinking...even have a "2008" top 10 list and only list accomplishments in 2008 - that would eliminate some guys from the list who haven't been heard from in years. Then in 2009 a new list comes out with only 2009 accomplishments - that would be more relevant. Kind of like college football and basketball - the rankings are only good for one year. This is all sujective, of course, and I don't pretend to be the authority on this at all (I miss Justin's system - at least there was data to rely on). I'm hoping to stir the pot a bit and maybe generate some buzz. The thing that stinks is that it is hard for guys around the country to get together and play, and let's face it, Chexx games are expensive and not exactly portable, so you can't just set up a tournament anywhere. More likely than not, most of us will never have the chance to compete on any kind of regular basis to see where we really rank... I'm trying to get a local arcade vendor to sponsor a tournament in NJ or PA in the spring, using his machines and his location and having him supply all the prizes (maybe even prize $$$ ) - he seemed into it 2 weeks ago when we talked but of course I have heard nothing since. I had the Philly Flyers on board a few years back, too, and that never panned out. Never fear, the "basement" tourneys will continue at JG's for better to worse, 2x/year. PS - Brian, I, too, of course was talking friendly smack in my post (that's why the ;D ;D are in there in my post), and I did try to factor doubles into some of the rankings. It is hard to do, no exact science for sure. Scott Storck is a good example. He hasn't been to any tournaments in a long while, but I see him occasionally in my league and I know he is better than me, but does he deserve to be ranked so high when he never plays anymore outside my league? Probably not, but I couldn't put myself ahead of him based on body of work (though I did take 2 of 3 from him last time in my league, so take that Scott!!! ). Hopefully more guys will chime in, and state their cases - the rankings are fluid!!! Hell, if Bill Brooks wins my league tonight he has to go ahead of me - I better start drinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, I hope you all enjoys your Christmas season. I am going to be busy the next couple days (scheduled to work on Christmas, bummer!, - I work at the Philly airport) but I wanted to extend my season greetings . I've had some fond memories of the nj bubble hockey league, the tourneys in Boston with Al and Sully and the gang and look forward to mixing it up with some others possibly in the future.
Merry Christmas!
Bill B.

The Chexxfan rankings have been updated and cut down to a top 10 - that ought to heat things up a bit (see the Chexxfan Welcome Page)! After some consideration, the rankings in the future are going to reflect more recent accomplishments and not rely so much on past successes, so if players want to crack the "top 10" they'll need to play in some events and bark with the big dawgs! As always, all input is considered - tourneys, leagues, even backyard brawls under the dome! If you've got game, post it here for all to see! Or better yet, come on down to NJ on April 18th, 2009, and see how you you really stack up against some of the bubble's best!!! CHEERS!!!
