[glow=red,2,300]Cheers all[/glow]:
Saturday March 4, 2006, there will be the Delaware Valley Bubble Hockey Classic tournament at Just Sports Bar and Grill in Bristol, PA. This location is only about 3 miles off of I-95 on Rt. 413 in Bristol, PA, or about 5 miles from the Burlington-Bristol Bridge spanning NJ and PA. This event will be held by the same guys who ran the NJBHC (John and Jim), so you know it will be a quality event with great tables and great prizes, including trophies. Right now we are looking to get between 24-36 players for this event.
Practice time will be between 11:00am and 1:00pm, with check-in/registration from 12:00-1:00pm. Play starts promptly at 1pm with the doubles competition, followed immediately thereafter with singles play. We expect all game play to be finished by 7-8pm (provided the guys from NY show up on time ;D ;D ;D).
This will be a round robin event followed by a double elimination tournament. Depending on the # of entries and the size of the brackets, each player will be guaranteed between 18-20 games played no matter how they fare in the event. 6 Chexx tables will be used for game play, the same 6 that were in play at the NJBHC. The entry fee is $25/player, and covers all game play in both singles in doubles.
The venue is top notch - Just Sports is a fabulous bar with 20 beers on tap and literally the best wings anywhere (I know, we've all heard this before, but trust me - they must put crack in these things because they are addictive and that much better than any wing I've ever had. I pay a $2 toll to cross a bridge into PA just to get these things!!!). There will be a 132 inch big screen TV with live "game" coverage of table play. Not to mention giveaways from Budweiser and the bar, and hopefully a commemorative T-shirt similar to what was had at the NJBHC.
We expect spots to fill up quickly once the bar starts promoting this in February - the cut-off is 36 players. [glow=red,2,300]So if anyone is interested, send an email to:
NJbubblehockey@verizon.net, or mail your entry fee made out to: Jim Bernard, 2 Saxony Dr., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077. We'll list players as they register.[/glow]

Just an FYI for anyone who was planning on attending the KONE in March.... IT'S NOT HAPPENING!!!! This is partly why John and I have decided to have the Del Val BH Classic. This event will again be Top Notch..The venue is great as JG mentioned..For those of you who are wondering you can check it out for yourself at their website[glow=green,2,300] www.justsportsbarandgrill.com[/glow] On the site you can see their TV Commercial, check out the menu and even get directions (very easy..3-5 minutes from I-95). This tournament will be featured on their website and in their Radio Commercials in the coming weeks. We will be working with another local Hotel to secure a rate for those of you who need a place to stay. Information on that will hopefully be posted soon so STAY TUNED! This is sure to be a great time...For those of you who missed the NJBHC...Now's your chance to get in on the fun..... [glow=orange,2,300] CHEERS !![/glow]

More than likely. I just need to convince one of my coworkers to partner up so I don't have to come get schooled all by myself.

Just to add, KONE is not happening in March, because we are backing the St Louis event. I am interested in growing the sport, insted of keeping it regional. I had hope that people who can make only one event to try to make st louis. Lets see how the east does vs the midwest as well a trying to become larger by growing the player base. People cry and moan about how hard it is to grow the sport, then when the chance araises they wilt away. If sissor/rock/ paper can have a cash prize, why can't a game of skill? Please help make this what we all want. thanks al

Amen to that Al. well said. Hopefully people can make the closer regional tournaments without to much hardship and then spring for the larger tourney as well. Just think how much more ready they'll be to take the prize in St. Louis. Hey, and what the heck is up with that rock/paper/scissor thing? We have got to have someone back the bubblehockey thing! What's this world coming to?

Might I please stress that the Del. Val. Classic is NOT a competing event for the IBHF Championships. It is going to be held almost a month earlier and almost 1000 miles away, and most certainly will draw a much different and more local player base. By all means, whoever can afford to go to St. Louis at the end of March go ahead and go, and go kick @ss!!! I wish I could join you but I can't make it out there. However, if you can't go to St. Louis, or if you want to get in "game shape" for the IBHF event by playing against some top notch competiton, come to the Del. Val. Classic in Bristol, PA, on March 4th. Hopefully we'll have bigger and better trophies and more giveaways/prizes than even we had at the NJBHC, plus great food and beer in a great bar. To me it is a no lose proposition. For those who can only go to St. Louis, good luck and bring home some hardware for the East Coast!!! For the rest of you, hopefully I'll see some of you at the Del. Val. Classic!
PS - IBHF is donating some prizes for the Del. Val. Classic, and the winner's of the Del. Val. Classic get a free paid berth to the Nat. Championships in St. Louis ( a $60 value), courtesy of IBHF!!! Which would suck for me if I win because I can't go! But maybe you can - just one more reason to play in the Del. Val. Classic...

And Mixolyde, if only you can make it, we've got a couple of real good players right now who are in for the tourney don't have doubles partners yet, including Bill Brooks and "Monkey." So keep that in mind...
PS - Come check out our league some Tuesday night if you can. You don't have to join, but we'd certainly let you play a bunch of "exhibition" games some night that would count in league standings for the league players. If interested, you can email me at: njbubblehockey@verizon.net. Take care.

OK, I just got off the phone with the owner of Just Sports Bar and Grill which is the venue for the Del Val Tourney. For anyone who might be interested, on March 4th (the night of the Tourney) at about 9pm they will be airing the UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship which is on Pay Per View. There is no charge for this as Just Sports has signed a contract to carry all Pay Per View events. Not a bad deal and a nice way to cap off a good day of Bubble Hockey!

Only 3 weeks to go before the Del Val Classic on March 4th. 15 players have signed up to date, so only 21 more spots are open. To register, send an email to: njbubblehockey@yahoo.com

The Del Val Classic player list keeps growing - over 20 signed up so far, including several prominant East Coast players like Al Jennings, Bill Brooks, and others (I'll update the player list post later this week). So far we've had registrations from NJ, PA, DE, NY, MA, and MD - a great response! Only 15 or so tournament slots left open. This should be a great event - 36 players bubblin' on 6 tables, singles and doubles, lots of prizes (trophies, T-shirts, hockey tickets, etc), and of course the berth to the nationals. So anyone who wants in and can get to the NJ/PA area on March 4th, send an email ASAP to:
njbubblehockey@verizon.net, or njbubblehockey@yahoo.com

Actually, there is a large % of single players in this event right now, so we'd have no problem finding a partner for Monkey Jr. Dare I suggest it??? The "Monkey" has no partner right now - could there be a pairing of 2 great apes?!?!?!?!?!?! I'm not sure the rest of us could handle it, but the possibilities stagger the mind...

Ummmmm, I thought there was a one Monkey per team limit?
Either way, Monkey Jr. is more than welcome as I'm sure that we can find him a partner.
